| General Community Rules - Overview |
The following is a list of rules that govern the Official Terry Goodkind Community and network overall. Please carefully review these rules prior to engaging in activities on the forum and other site resources. Failure to abide by these rules may result in account downgrade, temporary suspension, long-term suspension, permanent banning from forum, permanent banning from website and overall network, etc.
We intended to create an inclusive, open-air environment free of dominating personalities and network politics. As such, this community is primarily self-servicing. There are ADMINISTRATORS and MODERATORS, but their roles here are significantly diminished. They are, essentially, maintenance and quality of experience admins. Their enforcement of the rules below is strictly by-the-book with common-sense judgments. If you have any questions about these policies, please Private Message (PM) a Site Admin.

USER CONDUCT
All users are expected to act according to the standards of a business casual environment. While "water-cooler" general chat is freely encouraged, heated discussions about race, religion, politics, sex, and similar topics should be avoided. In general, if you wouldn't say it in a business casual environment, you shouldn't say it here. Consider that principle the primary tenant of expected conduct here.
This forum is intended for adults of ages approximately 14 years (with parental guidance) and older. As such, there may be adult-language, occasional vulgarity, artistic implied nudity within works of art, or similar content. If this content is offensive to you, please accept our apologies and bid us goodbye.
If someone is bothering or otherwise deemed to be harassing you, we respectfully request you utilize the IGNORE feature found within your User Control Panel (CP). Simply add the username of the person you wish to ignore. ADMINS and MODS will only intervene if the harassment continues after warning or is suggestive of physical harm.
INSTANT BAN OFFENSES
Threatening physical harm to any person, be they member here or otherwise.
Verbally harassing or intimidating any user.
Distributing and/or discussing Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) materials.
Distributing and/or discussing unlicensed/pirated ebook materials.
Distributing and/or discussing unlicensed/prohibited merchandise.
Distributing and/or discussing outside of the context of news article or fair use, any copyrighted materials.
Posting X-Rated pornography of any nature.
Posting R-Rated content and/or pornographic materials of a questionable or non-purposeful intent.
Attempted circumvention of community security mechanisms and devices. |
| Petitioning an Admin/Mod |
If you feel you have been banned or demoted unfairly, please read the rules posted in this FAQ carefully and see if there is a conflict. If no conflict is found, please state your case clearly and purposefully, via private message to a Site Admin. It is strongly encouraged that you only send one PM as petition. Repeated petition spamming will almost certainly harm your case for reinstatement.
Simply put, we don't like to ban people. If it happened to you, you either deserved it or we made a mistake. We're more than willing to admit to a mistake, so please remain calm and help us help you.
It is recommended you only petition Site Admins for reinstatement of rank or removal of ban. However, you are free to engage a site moderator for specifics related to a judgment, but please do so respectfully.
